The media conference was opened by Ali al-Rubaie and Hind al-Dulaimi, which opened the conference by a video report on the war correspondent woman, followed by a speech by the president of the Iraqi Journalists Women Forum (IWJF), Mrs. Nibras Al-Mamouri, in which she described the role of the forum in honoring the name of the military correspondent , Through the announcement of a competition named after fellow correspondent Shiva Kurdi, who was killed while covering the events of the war.
Al-Mamouri pointed to the importance of the role of the real media in promoting national feeling and peaceful coexistence among all the Iraqi people, She concluded by thanking all those who supported the Forum in its work, stressing that this moral support was the reason for the Forum to decide to form a network of women human rights defenders.
Speech of the representative of the committee supervising the competition Shiva Kurdi Dr. Adnan Al-Sarraj ‘’ “The selection of winners in the competition was according to specific criteria and the committee was neutral and professional in choosing the best among the best of the reports was sent’’
Al-Serraj concluded by thanking the members of the Committee for their distinguished professional role, Boshra Albaidi and Dr. Nizhet al-Dulaimi and Mr. Mohammed Ismail, in addition to the president of the Forum Mrs. Nibras Al-Mamouri
The conference included a poem by the poet Hamza Al-Hilfi and the announcement of the winners of the Shiva Kurdi contest where he won first place “Haider Al-Hamdani” for his television report (five young men rape a mentally ill girl in Samawah, She won second place, “Anne Salah” for her television report (mother lost her daughter during the armed operations in Mosul). Madiha Al-Bayati won the best investigative report entitled “In prison I did not see my body as a matter for me, She got second place “Suha Odeh” for the investigative journalist ((the teachers women in Mosul live on the approach of mothers of believers)).
The conference included the announcement of the establishment of a network of women human rights defenders announced by Dr. Bushra Al-Obeidi said: “The establishment of the network was necessary now, especially after a series of violations against women defenders in Iraq and the network aims to protect women human rights defenders and work to find a law to protect them. “
The conference concluded by honoring a number of media institutions under the auspices of the “Media of the Liberation of Mosul” for their special role in covering the liberation of Mosul.
