A workshop for activists and journalists from Ninewah on raising awareness of EWS

Within the Women’s Fund for Security and Humanitarian Action project, the Iraqi Women Journalists Forum, in cooperation with the United Nations Women / Iraq, organized a training workshop on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and how to raise awareness of the early warning mechanism, for the period 4-6 March, for 25 activists and journalists from Ninewah governorate.

The workshop in which the trainer Bassam Salem attended, included training on the content of Resolution 1325 and the three pillars of the decision, which are protection, prevention and participation, in addition to training on what is the early warning system and its components, the application of international decisions, the possibility of knowledge of the danger, and the mechanism of publication, communications and response capabilities.

the training also included, national action plans, implementation challenges, gender, gender configurations, and common issues of governance and effective institutional arrangements, community participation, gender and culture, as well as the main roles of the media and NGOs in raising awareness and Organizing advocacy and advocacy campaigns.

The last day of the workshop was concluded with training on the data and information checklist, setting organizational arrangements, identifying natural disasters and analyzing the vulnerability of societies, and how to store data and information and accessibility to it. The workshop included practical training for female trainees and participation in asking questions and discussion.
