Anbar women discuss societal peace and the roles of women in negotiations

Within the Women’s Fund for Peace and Humanitarian Action project, the coordinator of Sawtuha Network in alAnbar, in cooperation with the United Nations Women in Iraq, held two focus groups, the number of participants ranged from 20 to a total of 40 women representing different segments of society.

The women discussed the consequences of ISIS and the destruction of the social structure and civil peace, especially those related to the ISIS families, the problem of not providing children with documentary bonds for the purpose of exercising their normal lives, depriving them of education and not integrating them into society, in addition to women’s roles in building peace and achieving justice by participating in negotiations and enhancing their participation in decision-making locally and nationally.

The two women’s focus groups concluded a set of recommendations and policies to be adopted by the relevant official authorities, which will be published through an expanded report.
