Within the framework of the Women and Peace Project, the Iraqi Women journalists Forum held a focus group on Tuesday, July 23, in cooperation with the United Nations Women’s Office for the purpose of preparing a policy paper on women in conflict zones.
The activity was opened by the Head of the Iraqi Media Forum, Dr. Nibras Al Mamory, explaining the project’s summary, the activities carried out and the aim of preparing a policy paper, stressing the importance of diversity in the specialties of the participants who will prepare the paper.
The researcher and the academic Dr. Nahla Abdullah reviewed the results of the field study carried out by the forum in Ninewa, Diyala and Anbar, which targeted more than 500 women and the topics covered by the study and its results and percentages. She pointed out the importance of analyzing the results and preparing final recommendations for use during the meetings. Which will be held with local governments in those cities.
The working group was divided into two teams that adopted a security, political, economic and social results analysis. The meeting concluded with a first draft of the policy paper, which will be reviewed by the group and finalized as soon as possible.
