Sawtuha: Najaf
Within the Women’s Fund for Peace and Humanitarian Action project, the coordinator of Sawtuha Network in Najaf and in cooperation with the United Nations Women in Iraq held three focus groups for the period 4-11 March 2020, the number of participants ranged from 20 to total the three groups 60 women in the slums of the military district.
Women presented the problems they face in the governorate, the most important of which is the lack of adequate housing, the lack of schools nearby and the denial of education with various arguments, not to mention the lack of provision of hospitals or a nearby dispensary or even a pharmacy, knowing that there are special cases that need special care and attention, in addition to Legal problems and their lack of official identification documents for children due to marriage outside the court and the large number of underage marriage, as well as the deterioration of the agricultural reality due to the import of agricultural crops from abroad and the lack of support for the local product.
The three women’s focus groups have concluded a set of recommendations and policies to be adopted by the relevant official agencies, which will be published through an expanded report.
